Frank H. Supplee Jr.

Frank was born in Kingsville, Ohio to the late Frank H. Supplee, Sr. and the late Hattie Moses Pelfry Supplee. He graduated from Edgewood High School in Ashtabula, OH and then joined the United States Air Force in 1956. He met a girl, Marian Peck, on a blind date and they married in 1959. He was stationed at Langley AFB and they made Virginia their home. In 1965, he graduated from the Apprentice School at NACA – Langley Field, VA as an electronic technician.

Frank retired from NASA Langley Research Center in 1995 after 34 years of service. He was a co-recipient of two US Patents for devices used in flight, wind tunnel and medical testing. Frank and Marian enjoyed their many trips to Florida meeting their Ohio relatives; YMCA water aerobics classes; riding in their convertible and their lunches at the beach. He was a member of Hampton Baptist Church, a longtime former member of Hampton Roads Baptist Church and Asbury United Methodist Church.

He served as Treasurer, Deacon and Usher as well as on various committees. He drove the Church van and enjoyed serving in the soup kitchen for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen Pelfrey Walker; brother, Melvin Pelfrey; brothers-in-law, Elmer Walker and Charles Mandrake; and two great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marian; sister, Alma Pelfrey Mandrake; sister-in-law, Shirley Pelfrey; his 3 sons, Brian (Debbie), Wayne (Laura) and Robert (Bonny); grandsons, Bobby (Lauren), James, Matt (Jessica), Brandon and Tyler (Brittany); granddaughters, Brenna Ivey (Blake) and Jenna Wease (Jeret); 9 great-grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.

There will be an informal visitation on June 21 at Hampton Baptist Church at 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A memorial service follows at 3:00 PM. A private graveside service will be held at Parklawn Memorial Park.
