Gayle Wesley Voris

Gayle was born in Brewster, Kansas, in 1930, and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He served our country for seven years in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.

Gayle married his lifelong love, Louise Bostic, on August 19, 1950, and they settled in Hampton, Virginia. He worked as a welder at Newport News Shipbuilding, retiring after 33 years. He was a faithful member of Northampton Christian Church. His family lovingly remembers him as: an avid gardener, a talented woodworker, a handy repairman, a man with old-fashioned values, a great storyteller and someone who appreciated a good meal at Captain D's! Gayle devotedly took care of his wife, Louise, for 17 years after she was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, until her death in 2011.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Louise B. Voris.

He is survived by his four children, Amy (Marty) Dickerson, Arthur (Cathy) Voris, Neil (Terri) Voris and Tami Swanenburg; 19 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren. His family will have a private graveside service to honor him.
