Geneva Anthony Carter, fondly known as "Ginny" by some of her family, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the age of 65. Geneva was born in Scotland Neck, North Carolina to James and Alice Anthony. They later relocated to Newport News, Virginia.
Geneva's life was a testament to faith and dedication. She proudly served at the NN Shipyard over 20 years. She also pursued her artistic side, having recorded a studio album with Gwendolyn Odum and the Taylor Singers. Later, her passion for God led her to join the Christian group, Divine Concept Group.
Above all, Geneva was a devoted family woman. She leaves behind a legacy of love for her four children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Described as "sweet, dedicated, loyal, and faithful," Geneva's faith in Jesus Christ was a cornerstone of her life. She was passionate about intercession, spreading God's word, and serving others.
Geneva is survived by her husband Howard Carter and children, Alicia Carter Best, Hasani Mosi, Steven Carter, and Antwon Carter; her sisters, Mary Hackney (William) and Tanisha Anthony; her brother, Marcus Anthony (Kisha); a host of loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and special friends.
A long-standing member of St. John's Cogic Church in Newport News, Virginia, Geneva cherished her church family and found joy in worship and fellowship.
Though she possessed a quiet spirit, Geneva's smile was ever-present. She faced life's challenges with unwavering trust in God, never complaining, even until the very end. The Lord has been faithful and gracious unto her and has transitioned her to her heavenly home. “Give God the Praise"
