

Geneva Ruth Lovell, 82, passed away at home surrounded by family on December 14, 2025. She was born in Kentucky on December 23, 1942, raised in West Virginia and settled down in Newport News, Virginia.
She attended business in college in Bluefield, West Virginia. She worked at Bland Business College, and the office of an auto parts store. Geneva was an avid reader. She especially loved church cookbooks, wouldn’t hesitate to share a recipe with anyone. When she wasn’t reading, she was crafting. Her many talents were painting, knitting, and quilting. Geneva was a member of The First Thursday Bee and the Piece Makers Guild.
Geneva is survived by her husband of 61 years, Franklin W. Lovell; her children, Mary Poole, David Lovell, Denise Deas (Jay), and Ronnie Lovell. Her grandchildren, Justin Poole, Brittany Lovell, Travis Gowing, Claudin Wotten (Chase), and great granddaughter, Lexi Poole; siblings, Ralph Brunty (Dottie), Lisa Brunty, and sisters-in-law, De Lovell and Ute Lovell. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents by her parents, Fred and Mable Brunty, her brother, Ernie Brunty; and sisters, Lilian Overby and Sharon Mester.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the Riverside Cancer Center: Doctor Kostov and her Nurse Regina; Bristol Hospice and her Nurse Denise Jay and Taylor for their love, kindness, and care during her cancer journey.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, at Providence United Methodist Church and Parklawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the cancer society.
