Jerry, we go back to middle school (Hines). I’ll never forget how I went to sit down in a class that we had together, and you pulled my chair from right behind me. Needless to say, I was both embarrassed and upset. I look back on it now and laugh. It was hard when I found out about your passing. Still unreal. I made a 9 hour trip to Virginia from Florida this past weekend just to attend your homecoming celebration, and just couldn’t muster up the strength to attend and say my final farewells to you. I’m truly sorry. It’s been well over 20 years since we last spoke or saw one another, but regardless you’re so very much missed Jerry. Truly. We are currently planning our 20th High school reunion without you. Man. The memory of you, your thumb sucking, your baby blue & white NC jerseys, and that “popping” of ears thing that you did with your fingers will always be remembered. Until we meet again my friend. ❤️

You were a good man with a good heart. To call you a hard worker would be an understatement. You loved your family and your family loved you tremendously. You will be missed dearly my friend. Your son will be looked after by your family and know that. I'll see you on the other side bro.

Man where to start. Growing up with you living across the street from my grandmothers, you were a big part of my whole family growing up. From them remembering you as “the guy that did the thing with his ears” to sandlot football in the church field for countless hours trying to gang up and tackle big Joel all night. From elementary thru middle school we were always doing something outside every day. High school came around and I moved away, but we still kept in touch, and this was before cell phones and pagers were within our budgets! Over the years it was less and less but when we did link up, we always caught up where we left off. Never figured it would end. Prayers to your family and we will catch up another day bro!

Gerald, AKA Jerz AKA Puppy nuts I could go on and on. I’ve always looked up to you like my big brother. I always felt safe and I could be myself around you. I will miss your laughs , the talks every birthday Christmas thanksgiving and random calls just to check in with you , the little things you use to do when we got around each other. It was never weird with you sucking your thumb, popping me in the head knees shoulders with that thing you did with your hand. The ear flopping that I still do with my kids. Life just won’t be the same. I’m so hurt and wish I could of been there for you. I will keep all the good memories close to my heart and will never forget you. I will do my best with helping little man and I will make sure he knows how much you love him. RIP Jerz. Gone but never forgotten!! I love you man! I know you knew that.
