Gloria was known for her smile, unconditional love, dedicated bible studies and devotion to the Lord, including her final thirteen month journey the Lord trusted Gloria to make with him.
Gloria slept peacefully, surrounded by her devoted husband, John and youngest son, Gary. As she entered her eternal life in Heaven, John held Gloria's left hand and showered her with praise, love and affectionate kisses, while Gary held his mother's right hand, lifting her in prayer to the Lord's grace and mercy.
Gloria was born on December 26,1941 to parents, Charlie and Rose Anderson, and was the youngest of their two children. Gloria spent her carefree, childhood days on the local waterways and beaches of Virginia with her parents. Trips on daddy's boat and baking pies with mother were Gloria's favorite activities.
At age 17, Gloria married her one true love, John, aged 19. John and Gloria had 61 years of teenage love. They raised two loving sons while enjoying camping, attending Little League games, and leading the boys through Christian School education and church worship.
One of Gloria and John's greatest joys were doting on their three beloved grandchildren. They also enjoyed traveling to antique shops across the state to furnish their York County home. Weekend dates included holding hands and smooching on the balcony of Fort Monroe's historic Chamberlain Hotel on the Chesapeake Bay.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie James and Rose Harris Anderson; beloved grandmother Harrell and brother, Jackie Anderson. She is survived by her devoted husband, John; sons, Danny (Vicky) and Gary; grandchildren, Kacie, Ryan and Andy (Lindsay) and loving sister-in-law, Bertha Anderson.
The family wants to thank the loving relatives who have provided compassionate support during this journey, as well as neighbors and special friends, Dale and Bonnie Beardsley and their son, Ross; Bill and Margo LaMarsh and daughter, Kathy. Thanks to Ann Rogers for providing for the family's every need. Thank you to Dr. Scott Kruger and Oncology nurse, Brenda Chandler of Virginia Oncology Associates for your extraordinary dedication, and warm thank you to Hospice nurse, Tracey Hall of Personal Touch Home Care for your kind and gentle attention to Gloria and family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a Cancer Society or Church of your choice.
