Grace R Christie

Grace R. Christie, 85, widow of Gabriel W. Christie, passed away on April 14, 2014 at The Newport. Born in Brooklyn, New York on April 3, 1929, she has been a resident of Hampton for the past 60 years.

Her sons, William P. Christie and Stephen C. Christie, preceded Grace in death. She is survived by her daughter, Grace D. MacDonald and her husband Richard; daughters-in-law, Linda Christie and Donna Christie; grandchildren, Angela Davis, Courtney Petley, Jennifer Roman, Maria Christie, Kristen Coolbear, and Steve Christie; great grandchildren, Alexis Good, Gavin Good, Kaleb Davis, Gabriel Davis, William Davis, Lillian Roman and Anthony Roman. Mom was affectionately called, Nanny the Great!

Grace loved her family dearly and she will be truly missed. May she find eternal peace as she is reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her. We love you to the moon and back!

The family would like to thank Dr. Sarah Bushey for taking great care of mom. We would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Riverside Hospital and The Newport for their care and compassion while mom was ill.

Family and friends will gather from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, April 21 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home in Hampton. A funeral service will be held at the same location at 9:30 a.m. on April 22. Burial will follow the service at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Wounded Warriors Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org or The Animal Aid Society of Hampton.
