Helen K Icard

Helen K Icard, age 86, of Newport News Virginia, was called home to be with the Lord and welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Tuesday, July 5, 2022. She was born in Waynesville, NC on August 18, 1935, to Alice Millie Ann Suttle and William Ning Kirkpatrick. Helen was predeceased by her loving husband, James Icard, to whom she was married 54 years and had two children. Helen was a charter member of Newmarket Baptist Church and later a member of Liberty Baptist Church, where she attended Bible study and services with her family for as long as she was able. She was a resilient and caring woman who met and overcame all of life’s challenges, and taught her children to do the same. Helen is survived by her brother, Roy French Kirkpatrick (Judy); son, James Anthony Icard (Delena); daughter, Debbie Hovan; grandchildren, Megan Lloyd (Chris), Justin Young (Angela), and Rachel Honchul (Jonthan); and great grandchildren, Caisey Lloyd, Taylor Young and Tristin Young. The family would like to thank the Hospice Care Team of Riverside Health System for their loving care during her transition. A visitation for Helen will be held Friday, July 8, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, Virginia, followed by a celebration of life service at 11:00 AM. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Liberty Baptist Church, Hampton, VA. Arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home.
