Henry J. Billings was born on February 22, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York to John and Ethel Billings. He went to school in Brooklyn and graduated with honors. Following high school, Henry worked several jobs
While living in Queens, New York he met and married Marilyn Williams. Together they had two children, Valerie and Ronald. Shortly thereafter, he began his 33 year career with the New York Transit Authority as a Railroad Clerk. He was promoted to Motorman after five years, and loved his job driving the train.
After retirement Henry took a vacation to Virginia and loved it so much he moved to Hampton in 1992. His fiancée, Daisy Perry, relocated shortly after and they were married.
“My Daddy Henry was a tall handsome drink of water and a sharp dresser. Even if he was going to the bank or corner store he would have on a sports jacket, slacks, and shiny shoes. He was known for his straight forward honesty and yet loveable personality.”
