Herbert Francis Parris

Herbert Francis Parris Sr., 82, passed away on April 17, 2012 in Hampton, Virginia. Herbert was born in Arlington, Massachusetts, on November 2, 1929, and was the son of the late Ruth and George Parris, and brother to the late George, Kenny and Richard Parris.
Mr. Parris married his childhood sweetheart, the late Rosanna (Cromwell) Parris on September 15, 1950, a union that lasted for nearly 47 years. He proudly served as a Korean War Army Veteran and later went on to a career in printing where he retired as a Master Lithographer in 1989. Hebert had always been an enthusiast of sports and music, and spent his retirement years enjoying his two passions with his family and friends.
A devoted husband and loving father who cherished his family, he will be missed and remembered always with great love and affection. Herbert is survived by his nine children; Tanja, Rosanna, Herbert Jr., Craig, Sheryl, Victor, Ruth, Richard, Katrina; 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:00 PM, Sunday, April 22, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A memorial service to celebrate Mr. Parris’s life will follow at 3:00 PM. Mr. Parris will be interred on April 23, 2012 at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, Virginia.
The family asks that a contribution be made in Herbert Parris’s name to the American Diabetes Association in lieu of flowers.
