Howard B. Hicks

On Sunday October 10, 2021, Howard Berlin Hicks completed his journey here on earth with a peaceful departure at Riverside Hospital in Virginia. Born to the late Irving and Bessie Hicks in Greensboro, NC. The family later moved to Brooklyn, New York. There he entered the New York City school system where he graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School and then attended Medgar Evers College receiving an Associate Degree. Howard had two siblings that proceeded him in death, Donald Moore and Callie Moore. On March 25, 1967, he was joined by Dolores Higgs in marriage which was celebrated this year 54 years. Howie to family...Peter to close friends loved everyone there was no one a stranger to him. He could strike up a conversation about anything. He was very versed in all aspects of life from politics to investments, to books and films...music and pictures. If he didn’t know he would look it up and get back to you. He loved working in the computer field. He was also an advocate for veterans belonging to DAV chapter 13. He leaves to cherish his memory wife Dolores, sister in law Barbara, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A celebration of Howard's life will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, October 15, 2021 in Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. Interment will be held at a later date at Albert G. Horton Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA.
