Born in Lynchburg, Virginia on February 29, 1940, Howard was a resident of Newport News for over fifty years. He retired from the grocery business, had worked for Be-Lo and Winn Dixie stores, and also was a member of the Northampton Church of Christ in Hampton.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, William Thornton and Mary Isabel Wright; brother-in-law, Donald Webster and his daughter-in-law, Karen Wright. He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Sandra; their children, Howard Wright, Jr. (Susan), Christopher Wright, and Beth Tainatongo (Joe); siblings, Peggy Webster, Iris Harris (Dan), and Frank Wright (Debbie); eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Howard enjoyed spending time with his family and reading, as well as watching Westerns.
A service will not be held at this time, but the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
