He was the son of the late James Bryant Doss and Dora White Doss. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joyce McGhee Doss and his brothers, Curtis Doss of Blue Ridge, VA, Kenneth Doss of Rustbugh, VA, and Lacy Ridgeway of Virginia Beach.
Jim retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service. He was past Master of Poquoson Lodge #49 and past District Deputy of District 14-A. He was also a member of McMalton Lodge.
A Masonic evening memorial service will be held at 6:30 pm on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service until 8:00 pm. Interment will be in Gretna, Virginia at the Straightstone Baptist Church cemetery at a later date.
