James was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Edith Mize. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Evelyn Mize; daughters, Tina L. Wise and husband, Joe, Teresa Benefield and husband, Tim; granddaughters, Leah and Sara Wise; sister, Becky Hill and husband, Wayne; and grandmother, Verna Schmidt.
James was retired after 42 years of service from Newport News Shipbuilding as an X32 supervisor. He was also a veteran of the army who served during the Vietnam War and received two purple hearts.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of James’ life will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, November 21, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
