

James was a veteran in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He continued his work career with the U.S. Postal Service and retired after 20 years of service. He was a volunteer at USAF Langley Hospital for 19 years.
James is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Liliane Nicholson; sons, Patrick Nicholson and wife Annette, and Phillip Nicholson and Gwen; daughter, Cathy Nicholson and husband Randy Conner; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren – he will be especially missed by his grandsons Andrew Nicholson and Alec Conner. Also surviving are his brother, Jessie Nicholson and wife Roberta; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 9, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and technicians at the USAF Langley Hospital Multi Service Unit for their excellent care.
