James Calvin Perdue Jr.

James Calvin "Jimmy" Perdue Jr., 73, of Poquoson, Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026. Born on December 7, 1952, in Hampton, Virginia, Jimmy was the son of the late James Perdue Sr. and Rhodelia Watkins Perdue.

A proud graduate of Poquoson High School in 1971 and the NN Shipyard Apprentice School, Jimmy built a remarkable career in construction. He worked at Perdue Contractors Inc. for 11 years before founding his own company, Perdue II Construction, which he successfully operated for 30 years. His dedication to his craft and entrepreneurial spirit left a lasting mark on the community he served.

Jimmy was a man of many passions. He enjoyed target shooting, spending time watching movies with loved ones, and cultivating his garden filled with peppers and tomatoes. Known for his great storytelling and sharp sense of humor, he brought joy to those around him with his wit and generosity. His caring nature touched countless lives.

Jimmy is survived by his devoted wife, Alice Perdue; his sister, Brenda Gula (Richard); his daughters, Lauren Stillion (Dan) and Patricia Herman (Adam); seven cherished grandchildren: Alexis Stallings (David), Ian, Carmen, Jasmine, Jordan, Brock, and Evan; and one beloved great-granddaughter, Zoey. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Wayne Perdue; and his daughter Tabitha Perdue.

Jimmy's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May his legacy of kindness and laughter continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
