As a young man, Jim joined the Army and served his country as his life long career. He was an accomplished Army Aviator. His decorations included the Distinguished Flying Cross, The Purple Heart and Air Medals with V Device - 24th Award.
Jim is survived by Elise, his wife of 54 years; his son Dennis and daughter-in-law Jennifer of Austin Texas; Daughter Loraine and son-in-law Slemp “Bobby” Honaker III of Hope Mills North Carolina; Grandchildren Meagan Honaker, John and Melissa Honaker, Mason and Madeleine Rawlings; Great-grandchildren Jakob and John Honaker II.
A private memorial was held on Friday March 14th for immediate family members at Parklawn – Wood Funeral Home in Hampton Virginia
