Joan Barbara Powers, 89, passed away on August 4, 2019. She was a loving Mother who was strong, persevering, resilient, fiercely independent, stubborn and a rock of the family. Joan was born and raised in Johnstown, PA and moved to Hampton in 1954 where she had resided since. She worked for many years at A&P and retired as a United Food and Commercial Workers employee.
Joan is predeceased by her husband Clarence “Chuck” Powers and son Jeffrey Lynn Davis. Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Janice Day, Deborah Williams (Wayne); son, Raymond Davis Jr.; brother, John Meyers Jr.; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 10, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home 2551 N. Armistead Ave Hampton, VA 23666 with a graveside service to follow at 12:00 p.m. at Parklawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be offered to LINK of Hampton Roads, Inc. 10413 Warwick Blvd Newport News, VA 23601.
