John Leslie Huff

John L. (Big John) Huff, 85, of Newport News, VA, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2024. Born in Caneyville, KY, to Nina and Walter Huff, he dedicated his life to caring for his family and excelled as a devoted husband to Doris (predeceased), a loving father to daughter Sherri Singleton (Lee) and son Terry Huff (Cindy), and a grandfather to four grandchildren Jade and Chase Singleton, and Jeffrey and Jason Huff (Waverli) and great-grandfather of Gabriel, Aubrianna and Dietrich. Brother to (predeceased) Martha (Sis) Justis (Richard) and Charles Carter. He is also survived by his sister Susan Hart (Kevin) and family.

John was a veteran of United States Navy (20 years), he exemplified resilience and honor. Upon his retirement from the Navy, he also had a 20 year career at Anheuser-Busch. He was a passionate storyteller, captivating everyone with his tales as he never met a stranger and an avid card player (Pinochle) at his local senior center.

His legacy of love, laughter, and integrity will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. A visitation for Big John will be held at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home on September 28, 2024 at 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM.
