He was born on February 18, 1937 to the late Daniel Lewis and the late Leona Micitta in West Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He served in the United States Air Force for 28 years, and later retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Diedra M. Lewis, and their son, Daniel Lewis, along with a host of family and friends.
John Lewis, better known as “Lew,” lived life to the fullest – he was an avid golfer and fisherman, and also loved to travel and cook.
The family will receive friends 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held 11:00 am, Monday, October 15, 2018 at the funeral home with interment to follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk with honors rendered by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.
He will be greatly missed and always remembered.
