He was a native of New York but made his home in Virginia for 25 years. Jose retired from the United States Air Force on July 31st, 2006 after 22 years of dedicated service. During those years of service he rose through the ranks and became well decorated receiving many awards and medals including; Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Supply Systems Craftsman Badge, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.
Jose is predeceased by his mother and father, Neredia Romero Quiles and Guillermo Lopez Batiz.
Jose is survived by his spouse of 36 years, Mayra Lopez; his sons Jose Lopez and Anthony Lopez; and his daughter Gabriella Lopez; his sister Norma Morales; his granddaughters Isabella Gail Lopez and Amelia Grace Lopez. Jose also leaves behind many friends and family.
A gathering of family and friends for Jose will be held Sunday, April 30, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM inside the visitation rooms at Parklawn Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave Hampton, VA 23666.
