

Joy Lynn Eckle Gibson, 85, of Hampton, Virginia, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 29, 2022. She was a native of New Holland, Ohio who moved to Hampton, Virginia in 1966 with her husband Bob.
She is survived by her two sons, Robert Burns Gibson III (Lisa Yevonne Gibson) and Jay Lawrence Gibson (Nancy Reedy Gibson); five grandchildren, Chasity Leigh and Robert “Robby” Burns Gibson IV and Taylor O’Brien, Hunter Lynn (Amber), & Michael David-Lawrence Gibson; five great-grandchildren, Jaden Gibson, Jada Chatman, and Jasmine Womack, Charlie-Anne Gibson, and Liam Coyte-Micheal Gibson (due May 2022); one great-great granddaughter Janiylah May Gibson; a brother Coyte “Michael” Eckle (Linda), a niece Jami Hopper (Lee) and two great-nieces Morgan and Avery; and her faithful and loyal canine companion Bleu.
She was preceded in death by her mother Fern Eckle, father Coyte Eckle, and loving husband Robert Burns Gibson Jr.
She was a graduate of Grant Hospital School of Nursing 1958. She was a life-long dedicated, caring nurse. She was a school Nurse for Hampton High School for 25 years and after retiring began a 30 + year career with Riverside Health System Connected Care Center.
She loved helping others, spending time with her family, sewing, gardening, playing World of War Craft, genealogy, and playing her piano.
The family will receive friends on February 4th from 4pm until 6pm at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home and Memorial Park, Hampton VA. The funeral services will follow immediately at 6pm. A private graveside service will follow on Sunday February 6th, 2022. Pallbearers are Robert Gibson III, Jay Gibson, Robert “Robby” Gibson IV, and Michael Gibson.
