

Karen Lynn Wright, 58, passed away on November 14, 2018. Born in Heidelberg, Germany on June 1, 1960, she grew up in Hampton. She was a resident of Newport News since 1986 and worked as a registered nurse at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Hampton for 30 years.
She earned bachelor's degrees in psychology from Old Dominion University and nursing from Regis University as well as a master's degree in healthcare management from Troy University. She was an active member of Northampton Presbyterian Church. She loved spending time with her family, friends, and pets, and family vacations were the highlight of her year. Her caring nature extended to all aspects of her life, and her loved ones will forever cherish her laughter, love, and bright spirit.
Preceding her in death is her father, Robert McRacken, Sr. She is survived by her husband, Christopher Wright; daughters, Heather Wright (Samantha) and Holly Wright (Ed); her mother, Carole McRacken; brother, Robert McRacken, Jr. (Tracy); sister, Kristi Willis (David); father-in-law and mother-in-law, Howard Wright, Sr. and Sandra; and her extended family.
The family will receive friends Saturday, November 24 beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Northampton Presbyterian Church in Hampton, and the celebration of life service will follow at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to the American Diabetes Association and the National Geographic Society.
