Kay Reid

She was born in Rich Square, North Carolina to the late Billie and Eloise Ricks and was a resident of Hampton for 70 years before moving to Newport News in 2015. Kay was a wonderful homemaker and Great Mother before joining the Newport News Shipbuilding team in 1982, where she retired in 1997.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Nathan Reid. She is survived by her sons, Steve (Rhonda) Reid and Jeff (Bernadette) Reid; 2 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; brother-in-law, Ernie (Marlene) Reid; sister-in-law, Kathy (Johnny) Wise; numerous nieces/nephews; and countless people that considered her as their "Mama Kay".

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Friday, October 17, 2025 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Avenue in Hampton, 23666, with a celebration of Kay's life to follow at 5:00 PM at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Bethel Baptist Church (1004 Yorktown Rd, Yorktown VA 23693).
