

Larry was working for the VA Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. In the past he had worked for the Indiana Dept. of Workforce Development assisting fellow veterans and the Indiana Adjutant General Dept. / Hoosier Youth Challenge Academy.
He served his country from 1994 -2005 in the U.S. Army and obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant. While serving, he received numerous citations and during Operation Iraqi Freedom, he was wounded and was awarded the Purple Heart.
Larry was a graduate of Kecoughtan High School in 1992; Marian University with a degree of Bachelor of Business Administration; and Indiana Wesleyan University with a Master of Science in Management Strategic Management.
He was a diehard Indianapolis Colts fan.
Proceeding him in rest are his parents, Watcharin and Gary Burkhardt; grandmother, Phyllis Burkhardt. Surviving members of his family include his sister, Lan Khowdee; brothers, James Salisbury and Vonda Hines, John Salisbury, and Jerry and Amanda Burkhardt; Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and extended family members and many friends.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, May 8, 2015, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A service celebrating Larry’s life will be held Saturday, May 9, at 5:00 PM, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Jerry L. Burkhardt.
