Larry W. Carter

Larry Carter, son of the late Orlando Carter and Miller Lee Carter was born September 4, 1949 in Brooklyn, New York. He attended the public schools of NYC and studied law at local higher learning institutions. Larry was a hard-working, GOD fearing man who loved his family and a study of GOD’s word the Bible. Larry retired from the New York Department of Corrections after 20 years of service.

He was united in holy matrimony to Shirley Carter April 17, 1976. Through this union they were blessed with 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Larry was known for his giving spirit and his ability to impart his “golden nuggets” of advice to many. His influence in the lives of all who knew him will forever be felt as he always knew how to give needed “words of wisdom” at the right time.

His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children: Tashonda Spencer (George) of Brooklyn, NY.; Takeya Smith (Atelson) of Hampton, VA.; Sherese Carter of Hampton, VA. and Larry Carter of Queens, NY. His 9 grandchildren; Kehron Spencer (Aliya), Keanne Smith, Katrell Spencer, Javen Smith, Kacey Carter-Waldron, Katelyn Carter, Keevian Spencer, Kavay Spencer, Anora Nelson; and 1 great grandchild; Kida Spencer. Also left to cherish Larry’s memories are his sisters; Lovie Jean Hill (William) of Georgetown, GA.; Denise Wright (Douglas) of Wappinger Falls, NY. His brothers; Delowen Carter of Charlotte, N.C. and Paul Carter (Linda) of Charlotte, N.C. Larry was preceded in death by his sister; Linda Thomas and his brother Orlander Carter. Larry also leaves behind his brothers in-law; Larry Livingston (Angie), Baton Rouge, Larry Slade, NC, James Slade (Lisa), VA., Robert Slade (Kim), NC; Sisters in-law; Jacalyn Mitchell (Phillip), Gwendolyn Kennedy, NY., Sheila Thompson, NC. and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many other friends and family who loved him dearly and whom he loved very much.
