My condolences to Eric, Betsy, and the rest of the family. I am deeply saddened to hear of her passing. 

I knew LaVonne for a time back in the 1980s while I was stationed in the Air Force at Langley AFB.  She and I dated for only a few months, but I always had good memories of such a wonderful young lady that she was.  I only just happened on her obituary and fell out in tears.  I am so sorry to learn of this. My heart goes out to LaVonne's family and friends, although very belated.  Again, I am so very sorry.  I am certain she is at rest in the lap of the Father.  My the Lord bless this family, and give you strength in knowing she is with him...always.

LaVonne was a special person with much energy, and conviction for her beliefs.  During her teaching career, she was involved in the Hampton Education Association.  I met her in her early teaching career speaking up for children and advocating for education staff.  She was willing to step forward and make sure issues were "on the table".
When I reconnected with LaVonne last September, she still had the strong spirit and passion for teaching/learning that I remembered.
My condolences to her family and friends as we keep her in our hearts and memories.  She will be missed.

Such a sad time to lose someone who has touched the hearts of so many.  Lavonne worked so hard to provide learning experiences for her students that reached beyond the classroom at Davis Middle School.  Her leadership with the HEA benefited educators throughout our district.  Her dedication and love of children will be remembered.

Lavonne used to shop at Casual Corner when I worked for them. I always remember her smile, her pride in her students, and her love for her family.

Ms. Hoffman was a great person . We had our ups & downs due to my attitude . But she was so kind to me . She always told her students that she just wanted to help us before she left this earth . & I was so devastated when I found out she was in the hospital after Christmas break . I wish I would've visited her & I wish that I would've went to the Christmas dinner that she invited me to . Her smile is one thing that I will never forget . I was saddened to read of LaVonne's passing.  She was very active in the Hampton Education Association when I was serving as Vice-President.  I will always be grateful for her dedication and energy to the work of the association and her passion for helping children and educators.  She will be greatly missed.

I worked with LaVonne at Gloucester Hight for a short time, however right away I saw her passion for education and love for the success of her student. She was a very bright and caring person. I am terribly sorry for your loss. She was so amazing. She made an incredible difference in my life showing me there was more to life than any battle. I worked the bookstore cart with her every morning when I was at Davis. She made me read "Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes" and that is still my favorite book today.  She will be truly missed. ❤❤

Lavonne was an amazing woman that I loved to know.  Every conversation we had was emotional and spirited.  I loved her sense of humor and her unique way of seeing all situations.  Our passion for teaching and plants brought us together, and her sense of humor and straight forwardness made us friends.  She will be missed at work and in my life.

We are so sorry to hear of LaVonne's passing.  She was a wonderful young lady who grew up to be a beautiful and talented lady.  I remember fondly ushering with her at Bethel Manor and seeing her from time-to-time as she completed college and began teaching.  She made a difference in this world that will continue through her students.

I am so sorry to hear that we are left in a world without LaVonne. She was incredibly special to me, so enthusiastic about recycling and all kinds of environmental education. She was undoubtedly one of the most devoted educators I knew. She would do anything to help her students learn, including making sure they had snacks if they needed them so they wouldn't be hungry while trying to learn math and science. I remember her dedication to getting the recycling program up and rolling at Davis Middle School, and how her enthusiasm spread to the entire eighth grade. Her eyes sparkled and snapped when she regaled the School Pride in Action Committee with her recycling adventures and challenges. We will all miss her so very much. Peace be with you as you adjust to life without her.

I know she taught many of our niece's and nephews through the years and we are thankful for her. She was a beautiful, loving person and we all will miss her very much.

I am so sorry for your loss. LaVonne and I became friends when we moved in across the alcove from each other in our first new homes in Hampton Club.  She was smart, beautiful and seemed to be always going a thousand miles an hour as she started her teaching career, got her little Chihuahua, Peanut, and kept up with family matters.  She was a good friend a neighbor during those three years and I will miss her.

I worked with LaVonne at Davis Middle School for many years.  She was a devoted, energetic, go-getter who never gave up on her goals.  She represented our school at countless school board meetings and made sure our voices were heard.
