He was born in Richmond, Virginia, on December 22, 1972, to Lawrence Land and JoAnn Roberts Land.
He leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Dawn Land; his daughter, Amber Land; his son, Richard Land; his mother, JoAnn Land; his sisters, Samantha Burns and Dorcas Land; his niece, Elizabeth Land; his nephews, Zackary Burns and Kevin Burns Jr.; his great-niece, Arayna; his brother-in-laws, Dan Hasson, Kevin Burns Sr.; his mother-in-law, Jennie Zacharias, and family.
He was a proud father for 29 years and a husband who loved his family deeply. Over the years, he worked in many different trades and took pride in providing for the people he loved most. He was dependable in the way that mattered most—when something needed to be done, he found a way to do it.
He enjoyed being around family and friends, especially when there was food involved. He was the grill master of the family and loved cooking for everyone at holidays, gatherings, and any other excuse to get his people together. For him, cooking was never just cooking. It was his favorite way of showing people that he cared.
At home, he loved spending time with his fur babies. He was also the person people called when they needed help, had a question, or just did not know what to do next. He would show up, work on the problem, and do whatever he could to help find a solution—a real-life Superman.
He will be remembered for the love he gave his family, the meals he made, the help he offered without hesitation, and the steady presence he brought to the people around him. He will be deeply missed.
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at Parklawn Memorial Park, 2551 North Armistead Ave, Hampton, Virginia 23666, on June 29, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
