Lena was devoted to her family, especially Thomas, her husband of 72 years. She enjoyed cooking for her family. She always had sweets, cakes, pies, and cookies for anyone who may visit. She leaves a legacy of good cooks in our family to follow her example. She loved all her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed watching them play sports and perform in recitals as well as spending time with them at home. She loved to sew, making quilts that keep us warm on cold nights and give us sweet dreams. In her later years Mom enjoyed Word Search books and used colored pencils to create beautiful pictures. But we cannot forget that she was quite stylish and loved to shop.
She was a faithful member of her church Bethel Baptist for over 50 years, helping in the kitchen for Wednesday night dinners, preparing for communion and serving with a grateful heart wherever needed. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, loving spirit and a servant heart.
The family wishes to express our gratitude to Bridge Hospice especially (Sesly, Karen and Brittany) for their amazing care and comfort they provided.
