On Monday, August 15, 2016, at age 57, Leonard Scott Hassell, a loved and admired husband, dad, brother and friend, left us much too soon. His parents, John Douglas and Mary Ellen Hassell, precede him in death. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kalynn Ann, his three daughters, Amanda Kay, Michelle Ann and Sarah Lynn, his brother, Douglas Flint and wife, Dixie and their three children, Megan, Zach and John, along with many extended family members.
Scott served in the United States Navy as a nuclear electricians mate and retired after 20 years of service. He continued working for the government at Supervisor of Shipbuilding Newport News as Deputy Project Supervisor of Aircraft Carrier New Construction. Scott was an avid golfer and enjoyed taking cruises with his wife. He was a proud father to his successful daughters and enjoyed coaching them along the way.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, August 25th at 6pm at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home in Hampton. Arrangements for burial at Arlington National Cemetery are pending. The family would like to thank everyone for the love and support shown to us during this difficult time.
