LTC Wayne Eric Hardy

LTC Wayne Eric Hardy, age 47, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2012 in Saudi Arabia while serving his country in the U.S. Army. He was a native of Virginia and had most recently been a resident of Hampton, VA. . During his military career spanning over 24 years, he had served in the Persian Gulf theater and received numerous citations including; Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (6), Army Commendation Medal (3), Army Achievement Medal (3), Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Infantry Badge, Air Assault Badge, and the Airborne Badge. LTC Hardy was preceded in death by his father, David W.A. Hardy; and brother, Walter Hardy. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Alicia J. Hardy; children, Erika Hardy and Jeremiah Hardy; mother; Ella G. Hardy; brothers, Michael Hardy and Franklin Hardy; and sisters, Vergie Hardy Freeman and Angela Hardy. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 2, 2012, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A 7:00 pm fraternity service will be held following the visitation. On Friday, August 3, 2012, at 11:00 am, a service honoring LTC Hardy will be held at the Regimental Memorial Chapel on Fort Eustis, Lee Blvd., Building #932, Newport News, VA 23604. Final military honors will be rendered at 2:00 pm on Friday, August 3, 2012 at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery located at 5310 Milner Road, Suffolk VA 23434.
