Luther E. Hayes, 81, passed away in Poquoson on Sunday, March 11, 2018. He was born in Benton, Tennessee and was a resident of Hampton for 45 years.

He was of the Baptist Faith. After a career with the U.S. Air Force spanning over 30 years, he retired in 1984 as a Senior Master Sargent.

Luther was preceded in rest by his parents, 2 sisters, and 3 brothers. His wife of 54 years, Dorothy M. Hayes, and son, William D. Kennedy and wife Terry of York County survive him.

The family will receive friends 1:00 to 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home and Memorial Park. A celebration of Luther’s life will be held at 2:00 pm following the visitation. Interment with military honors will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
