She was a member of Petsworth Baptist Church in Gloucester and had most recently returned to Memorial Baptist Church in Hampton where her children and most of her grandchildren were baptized. Margaret was a sweet, big hearted Christian woman who everyone loved. She enjoyed entertaining her grandchildren who selected her home to visit over all other relatives. She was a published poet.
Preceding her in rest are her parents, Walter and Lillie Mackey; husband R. Henry Rilee; grandson, Brandon Albertson; and her first love Carlton Baxter.
Surviving family members include her children, R. Allen Baxter, Sr. and wife Suzy, and Diane Baxter Stamper and husband Bill; 9 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and 10 great great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 17, 2010, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A Celebration of Margaret's life will be held on Monday, October 18, at 2:00 P.M., at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
Margaret loved her family and friends and took great pride in her children, having once said, “I asked God for a boy and girl and he gave me the best of both”. She in turn gave God her best.
Her love lives on in her legacy of compassion and charity to others.
