Marie was born on March 28, 1941, in Selma, NC, and has been a longtime resident of Hampton, VA.
She is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Eula Rose, sister, Mae Robbins, and brothers, LC and JD Rose. She is survived by her husband of 52 years Donald (Don) Stokes, her brother Fonza Lee Rose (Hank), children Jean Thomas (David), Donna Baker (Donald, deceased), Donald Stokes Jr. (Lisa), Denise Bailey (Tim), and Colinda Josefowicz (Tony); as well as 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend. Throughout her life, Marie had many talents, interests, and hobbies and she touched many hearts in her endeavors. The family would like to thank her long-time caregiver and friend Shannon Cotton for being there for her. She is loved by many and will be missed by all.
A viewing will be held at 12:00 PM, February 5, 2022, with a Celebration of Life to follow.
