

Marjorie Y. Hudgins, age 77 of Hampton, died on April 20, 2012. She was born on 16 September 1934, to English parents, Vera Ena Hicks and Joseph Pedge (both deceased). Her father was stationed in Glasgow, Scotland and was in the Royal Army Medical Corps. When she was two years old, he was posted to Aldershot, Hampshire, England.
When she was seven, he served in World War 2, and the family moved to her mother’s home town of Colchester, Essex, England, where she lived until she met and married Kenneth D. Hudgins, an American Serviceman, coming to the U.S. in 1962. Marjorie and Kenneth celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on April 14, 2012. She belonged to the Hampton, No.2 Branch of TBPA (Transatlantic Brides and Parents Association) and regularly attended the monthly meeting and social evening, which she enjoyed. She had been a member for over 20 years. Sometimes she would play the piano for the members.
Marjorie leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, daughter Lorraine G. Hudgins, and son, Robert G. Hudgins. Survivors also include two brothers; David Pedge, wife Margaret, and family, and Steven Pedge, wife Joan, and family; also a sister, Valentine Baker, husband David, and family, plus many cousins, all of England, and in the U.S. a sister Sylvia Snyder, husband Ron and family of Newcastle, Delaware; also in-laws, nieces and nephews in the U.S.
A celebration of Marjorie’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 24 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Hampton at 4p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Scleroderma Society.
