Obituary of Michael F. David
Michael Frederick David, 79, of Newport News, Virginia succumbed to cancer and joined his father Fred, mother Sophie, and adored sister Nacema in the presence of the Holy Father on July 12, 2019. Mike is survived by his wife Dolores of 59 years; daughter Sofia Wiggins of Grafton, VA; and sons Tony David of Lynn Haven, FL and Michael David of Newport News, VA; as well as his loving grandchildren; Alex, Kevin, Melissa, and Cassi, nieces; Alice and Karen, and nephew Frank. He is also survived by all the wonderful family in his home state of Massachusetts, and in his wife’s native country of Spain. Mike was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, uncle and friend to everyone. After serving his country proudly for 32 years, he retired from the United States Air Force as a CMSGT ending his service at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, VA. Chief loved sports, playing, attending live events, and watching them on television along with his wife and usually with his beloved cat Mikey at his side. In particular he was a lifelong avid fan of his hometown Boston Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics and New England Patriots. Later in life he enjoyed working his yard, tending his vegetable garden and feeding, as well as watching, all the birds and squirrels that would visit daily. Perhaps most of all though, spending time in the company of family and friends always brought forth a smile and laugh. A special thank you to the people at Riverside Hospital and Coliseum Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care and support during his final days. Also, the family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude towards Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home for being very accommodating and understanding during this difficult time. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home in Hampton, VA on Thursday, July 18th. A celebration of life will also be held at the Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home on Friday, July 19th at 11:00 AM followed by funeral services at Parklawn Memorial Park. Flowers are most welcome as well as memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Foundation of America and the American Red Cross.
