Mildred was born on August 14, 1931 to Ada Duncan and William Emmitt Cumbie of Seminole, Georgia. She was one of seven children. Mildred graduated from Hampton High School in 1948. Soon after, she began working for Langley Airforce Base civil service and retired after many years. She later began a second career at Holloman Child Development & Education Center where she found a passion for teaching children from pre-k to kindergarden. She was a devoted member of Warwick Assembly of God Church for 46 years.
Mildred was preceded in rest by her father, William Emmitt Cumbie; mother, Ada Duncan; three brothers, Willie, Joseph, and Buna Cumbie; and three sisters, Panzie Cumbie, Pauline Cumbie-Huckeba, and Margaret Adams.
Survivors include her son, Douglas J. Trainum Jr. (Jackie) of Winchester, VA; and three grandchildren, D. Justin Trainum III of Portland, ME, Alyssa Trainum of Denver, CO, and Jonathan Trainum of Wilmington, NC.
Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, April 2, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Parklawn Memorial Park.
