

Mozelle was preceded in death by her husband, George; and her son, Doug. Mozelle is survived by her daughter-in-law, Audrey Morrison of Poquoson, VA; two grandsons, Wayne Morrison (Debby) and Eddie Morrison (Becky) of Poquoson, VA; granddaughter, Dawn Henley (Keith) of New Kent, VA; five great-grandchildren, Zachary Morrison (Caitlin), Morgan Kingston, Micah Kingston, Rachel Morrison, and Bradshaw Morrison; two great-great-granddaughters, Sophia Morrison and Eden Holley; a sister, Gerry Draughn of Georgia; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mozelle was born on September 9, 1922 in Surry County, North Carolina. On June 29, 1940 she married George Morrison, her husband of 60 years. In May of 1941, Mozelle gave birth to her one and only child, Douglas Lee Morrison.
In 1943, Mozelle came to Hampton, Virginia, so George could work at Newport News Shipbuilding. Mozelle and Doug moved to Mount Airy, North Carolina in June of 1944 to be with her family while George served with the Navy in the South Pacific. They settled in Hampton Roads in 1946.
In January of 1947, Mozelle joined West Hampton Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 60 years and sang in the choir. Mozelle went to work at Newport News Shipbuilding on June 20, 1952 where she worked as a keypunch operator for 16 years, later moving to the Computer User Services Department where she concluded 35 years of service.
Mozelle was affectionately referred to as Grandma and Grandma Mozie by her grandkids, later shortened to Mozie. Mozelle loved tending her roses and hanging baskets, picking out the perfect Hallmark card, feeding her backyard mourning doves, eating a good chili dog, milkshake, and anything sweet. She faithfully visited shut-ins every week when she was able and will be remembered as a woman of faith. She loved her friends, her family, and most of all her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The family will receive friends 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM, Sunday, March 21, 2021 at West Hampton Baptist Church, 631 Aberdeen Road, Hampton, VA, 23661 followed by a celebration of life service at 3:00 PM in the church. Interment at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton, VA to follow services.
