Nancy Masters Keith

Nancy Masters Keith, age 93, of Hampton, Virginia, went to Heaven to be with her Lord on Friday, February 8, 2019. She was born in Buncombe County, Asheville, North Carolina on May 31, 1925 to the late Sam and Pearl Masters. Nancy is survived by her three sons, James P. Keith, Jr. (Jimmy) and wife, Pat of Newport News, Virginia, W. Sam Keith and wife, Paula of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and Anthony Keith (Tony) and wife, Martha of Gloucester, Virginia. She also leaves four grandchildren, Charles, Stephen, Carla and Toni; eleven great-grandchildren, Sierra, Diane, Nicole, Cassie, John Bradley, Ethan, Madison, Kylie, Bhraeden, Charles, Jr. (Chazz), and Olivia; two great-great-grandchildren, Liam and Paisley; and sister, Gaynelle Haynes of Asheville, North Carolina. Nancy is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James P. Keith, Sr. and her brother, Albert Masters. Nancy served her country as a telephone switchboard operator at Fort Eustis Army Base in Newport News where she helped countless young soldiers stay in touch with their loved ones. She retired after 20+ years from the Civil Service. She was a long time member of West Hampton Baptist Church of Hampton, Virginia. Nancy was a devoted homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed having her family near and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was very talented and enjoyed working with her hands. She was gifted with crafts, enjoyed ceramics, and creating porcelain dolls. She was an avid painter and loved knitting and crocheting afghans. Nancy was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed sewing. She was a master gardener and loved working in her yard and nurturing her houseplants into beautiful creations. The family would like to thank the Visiting Angels, Rosie and Joan for their love and care of our mother. They would also like to thank Riverside Hospital and the nurses and doctors for their care of our mother. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Nancy’s life be at 11:00 am with Jerry Fitzgerald of Gloucester officiating; interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
