Nancy Voss, widow of John W. Voss, Sr., passed away peacefully on March 27 with her family by her side.
Mrs. Voss was affectionately known as "Gumby" to all her family. She was an avid gardener and homemaker.
Mrs. Voss was a war crimes victim of Nazi Germany. She was taken from her home in Ukraine when she was just a teenager. She never found her way back home to be reunited with her family. She survived the war and the aftermath. She moved from Austria to the U.S. in 1949 as the wife of a serviceman, and earned her citizenship. After retirement, they settled in Virginia where they have lived in the Foxhill community for over 50 years.
She is survived by 2 children, Betty Burleson, of Hampton and John W. Voss Jr. (Pam) of Powatan, VA. Also surviving are four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A private service will be held at a later date.
Any donations in her name can be made at the Cat Corner, Hampton.
