Obituary of Ofelia Trinidad Bitanga
Ofelia T. Bitanga, 84, of Yorktown, Virginia and formerly of Benicia, California, passed away on October 12, 2018 at home, surrounded by family. She was born in Dalayap, Pampanga, Philippines and attended the University of the Pacific. She worked as a librarian at Kilauea Military Camp in Volcano, Hawaii, then at the Science Resource Center at Maryknoll High School in Honolulu, Hawaii. This was followed by a career as a Credit Analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. Ofelia was a past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association (LAFRA), Branch 8 - Vallejo, and was also the National Chaplain of the LAFRA. She was a devout member of the Catholic Women of the Chapel at Langley AFB. She will be remembered for her generosity, kindness and unexpected humor. Ofelia was preceded in death by her late husband, MCPO Michael A. Bitanga, USN Ret., and is survived by five daughters: Amor, Lis, Dulce, Grace, and May; ten grandchildren: Josh, Sissa, Matt, Zach, Hannah, Tina, Lorenzo, Libby, Benjamin, and Vivian; and five great-grandchildren: Rio, Roland, Ripley, Aria, and Wyatt. Her ashes will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery next to her beloved husband. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Seminarian Fund of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA.
