

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Jacquelyn D. Cooper. He is survived by his daughter, Linda L. Cooper of Hampton; son, John R. Cooper and his wife, Dierdre, also of Hampton; daughter, Stephanie E. Lopez and her husband, Daniel, of Newport News; son, William B. Cooper of Gloucester and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Omar served in the U.S. Army for 24 years, after retiring from the military he worked as a crane operator for Riggins & Co. and Horne Brothers. His hobbies included bowling, gardening, and making things out of stained glass, but most of all he enjoyed shooting the breeze with family and friends about the good old days.
Omar, John, Pop, Dad, Daddy, Granddad, Grandpa, whatever name you called him, he was loved by many and will be missed by all.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Omar’s life will be held on Friday, June 13, at 12:00 pm at the gravesite in Parklawn Memorial Park. Honors will be rendered by the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
