

Ralph Alexander DeSimone, Jr., 62, a resident of Toano, Virginia, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. Ralph was born in New York in 1948 to the late Ralph Alexander and Catherine Anne DeSimone.
Ralph proudly served his country for 23 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a Senior Master Chief. He continued his work as a subcontractor for the Department of Energy at various nuclear sites across the country. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and spending quality time with his family. Ralph was a member of the MENSA International Society.
He is survived by his beloved with of 22 years, Iris DeSimone of Toano, VA; sons, Ralph DeSimone and wife, Celeste of Gloucester, VA, and Robert DeSimone and wife, Tracy of Poquoson, VA; step-sons, Jim Ackley of Newport News, VA, Jason Ackley of WV, and Craig Ackley of Newport News, VA; grandchildren, Michael, Symphany, Jodie, Chase, Jade, Baylie, and Caitlyn; great-grandchild, Jessica; brother, Alex DeSimone of CO; and sister, Anne Montoya of NV.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 6, 2011, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A service remembering Ralph’s life will be held Saturday, May 7, at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Following the service, interment with military honors will be in Parklawn Memorial Park.
