Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 12, 1940, Raymond lived in Hampton Roads. Before owning his own business, he worked as a tug boat Captain and held many other different positions.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents Annie and Arlie Kirkland, his brother Paul Kirkland and step daughter Suzan King.
Raymond leaves his wife, Sun ‘Kay” Kirkland, whose world revolved around him. His loving brothers Jerry, James, Ray and sisters Benita and Betty. Nothing, not even time or distance, could get in between this lot. Still thick as thieves and always there for one another. His adoring children Raymond “Tommy” Kirkland, Jeffrey Kirkland, Debbie Harrison, Cherrie Cayley, Shelly Kostiner and Sandra Medina. His many wonderful grandchildren and friends. Raymond loved us all.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2020 followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton VA, 23666. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
