

Raymond Albert Schneider, 83, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2011. He was a native of Buffalo, New York, and a resident of Newport News for 8 years. Mr. Schneider was an electrical engineer contractor and retired in 1990 after working with Dupont for 15 years and later for Buffalo Electric Co. for 22 years.
Raymond served honorably as a fire controlman in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a deacon of Randall Memorial Baptist Church and the Buffalo Christian Center. He graduated from the University of Buffalo, specializing in mechanical engineering. Raymond was proud to be a part of the installation of the lights for the Lake Placid Olympics.
Raymond is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Ruth H. Schneider; son, Mark A. Schneider; and parents, Albert W. and Emma N. Schneider. He is survived by his son, David W. Schneider and his wife, Jeanne; grandchildren, Jared D. and Benjamin R. Schneider; and sister, Lorraine Bridwell.
The family will receive guests from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2011 at Perna, Dengler, Roberts Funeral Home. A celebration of Raymond's life will be held Saturday, May 28 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with a private interment to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, in Buffalo, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Buffalo Christian Center or Randall Memorial Baptist Church.
