Reba Christine Ellis Turbeville, a beloved wife, mother, and sister, passed away peacefully in the presence of loved ones in the early hours of August 8th, 2019. Born on March 2nd, 1937, she graduated from Newport News High School in 1955. She married her husband, Sam Turbeville, Jr. in 1957 and was wed to him until his passing on April 12th, 2019. Together they had three children: Lydia, Connie, and Sammy. She faithfully served for 31 years as a bookkeeper for her husband Sam’s business, The Tile Shop, located in Hampton, Virginia. She was also a committed member at Liberty Baptist Church for over twenty years during the last few decades of her life.
Reba is survived by her eldest daughter Lydia Evans and her husband Dennis, daughter Connie Elmore and her husband Duane, as well as her son Sammy Turbeville and his wife Sandy. She also has a legacy in the lives of her seven grandchildren: Levi Elmore, Miranda Routszong and husband Phil, Moriah Schurz and husband Clark, Alexandra Mitchener and husband Mitch, Hannah Turbeville, Flynn Evans, and John Turbeville. Through those seven grandchildren have also come eight great-grandchildren to Reba: Tucker and Eliza Mitchener, Hayden and Norah Schurz, Aviana and Jacob Turbeville, Oakley Elmore and Iris Routszong. Her three sisters, Dorothy Doeppe, Jerry Starling, and Donna Weeks remain to keep the memory of their sister’s life alive to all of those around them.
The family will receive guests for a visitation on Sunday, August 11th, 2019, from 4 to 6 pm at Liberty Baptist Church. A graveside service is scheduled for 1:30 pm Monday, August 12, 2019 at Parklawn Memorial Park and a Celebration of Life service will take place that afternoon at 3:00 pm at Liberty Baptist Church; a reception will follow.
