Richard "Rick" B. Ownby

In 1978 he graduated from Kecoughtan High School and joined the U.S. Army. After serving his country he began a career lasting over 30 years with the Newport News Ship Yard where he was currently working as a crane operator.

Preceding him in rest is his father, Willard “Bud” Ownby, Jr. Surviving members of his family include his children, Jessica F. Davis and daughter Matayla, and Michael S. Ownby and son Micah; mother, Geraldine “Gerrie” E. Ownby; brother, Timothy W. Ownby and wife Gayle; sister, Lori Dixon and husband Mark; nieces and nephews, Lauren Nash, Matthew Ownby, Christopher Dixon, Daniel Dixon and their families; and grandparents, Helen M. Ownby, and Annis V. Mann.

A service remembering Rick’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., in the Mausoleum Chapel of Parklawn Memorial Park. Entombment will follow the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, 601 Children's Lane, Norfolk, VA 23507.
