Richard "Ricky" W. Strickland

A friend to many, his magnetic personality and gentle heart made him a blessing to all who had the fortune of knowing him. He will be laid to rest in Hampton, as although he moved to Poquoson, Virginia, to raise his son, and later to Elizabeth City, NC, Buckroe Beach was always home to him.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Carrie Strickland; his son Travis Strickland, whom he loved dearly; His sisters, Sharon, Frances, Tina (Eric), Melody (Danny); brothers-in-law, Clyde, Jason (Katrina), and Christopher (Angelia); nieces, Stormy (Aaron); Casey; Morgan; and Destiny; nephew, Joshua; great-niece and nephew, Hailie and Hayden and mother-in-law, Beverly. He is remembered by all whose life he was a part of. In addition to his mother, Shirley, he was preceded in death by his sister, Holly Lynn and numerous family and friends who have received him for a glorious reunion.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 2551 North Armistead Ave, Hampton, Virginia 23666. A celebration of life will occur Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at 2:00 PM, 2551 North Armistead Ave, Hampton, Virginia 23666. An entombment to follow service will occur at Parklawn Memorial Park, 2551 North Armistead Ave, Hampton, Virginia 23666. Friends are encouraged to share memories and words of condolence with the family.
