Robert Leroy Ausink

Robert (Bob) Leroy Ausink, 79, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Riverside Hospital in Newport News, Virginia. He finished his earthly fight against heart disease and is now in the glorious presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Praise Jesus!

Bob Ausink was born the son of Albert Henry and Ethel Alice Ausink on December 23, 1946, in Mt. Vernon, Washington. About four years later, his family bought a dairy farm outside of Slayton, Minnesota.

This is where Bob and his four younger sisters, Corlea, Marianne, Joanne, and Rebecca, grew up as a Midwest farming family. He graduated from Slayton High School in 1965. After high school he enlisted in the Air Force and served as a crew chief on a Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker refueling aircraft. Bob served honorably for the next three years stationed at Castle Air Force Base in California and deployed to Thailand during the Vietnam War. Bob decided to take an “early out” in 1968.

Once out of the Air Force, Bob sought employment and adventure in San Diego California, yet continued to return home to Minnesota during summers to work for the local government on their land survey team. This eventually led him to working for a builder in Texas helping subdivide land for construction.

In 1972, on a summer trip back home, Bob was invited to an Assemblies of God church where the preacher was talking about Hell being eternal. This impactful message stirred Bob to commit his life to Christ.

In Houston, Bob’s relationship with Christ grew through his involvement with Grace Chapel. It was a church connection that one day brought him to Newport News, Virginia, where he met his future wife at a Bible study. He was later united in marriage to Christine Pincombe at Grace Chapel in Houston, Texas, on December 23, 1978. They began their 46 years of marriage as Christian missionaries in the Philippines where they served for seven years. After serving as missionaries to the Philippines, they eventually settled in Hampton, Virginia, where they raised their four sons and served in the local church. Even though Bob no longer lived abroad, his passion for missions and the nations continued through devoted prayer, support, and short term trips.

He worked at the VA Medical Center in Hampton as an electrician. Bob was a loyal,steady, hard worker who played an active role in keeping the hospital operating. He always provided for his family and loved attending his sons’ many athletic events. After he retired in 2014, he immediately got to work restoring a 1956 Chevrolet Corvette. Once restored, he regularly went cruising, enjoying the car community of the Peninsula.

Bob was a kind and soft spoken man, yet unafraid to share his opinion. Bob was very mechanical, and loved connecting with others. He was a man of routine, even to the point that his neighbors knew the exact time of morning, when they heard him start his car. Bob leaves a rich legacy of faith and family.

Thank you God for giving us Robert Ausink, he will be deeply missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents Albert (1985) and Ethel (2019), his wife Christine Grace Ausink (2025) and his grandson Zev Francisco Ausinheiler (2021). He is survived by his four sons and three daughter-in-laws - Bruce (Helena) Ausink,South Carolina; Bryan (Jessica) Ausinheiler, Panama; Brent (Cary) Ausink, Virginia; andBradley (Thailand); eight grandchildren - Netania, Laura, Rhema, Josiah, Hosanna, Selah Ausink (South Carolina), Zia, and Zamira Ausinheiler (Panama); and his four younger sisters and their families - Corlea (Pete) Boyer, Minnesota; Marianne (Jon)

Westlake, Minnesota; Joanne (Dan) Tims, Texas; and Rebecca (Mark) Segner, Florida

A Graveside Burial Ceremony will take place on Friday October 2, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Parklawn Memorial Park, located at 2551 N. Armistead Ave, Hampton VA 23666

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service, will take place on October 3, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Grace Fellowship Church, located at 609 Aberdeen Rd, Hampton, VA 23661.
