

When he was 17 years old, he joined the Air Force as a Radio Operator during the Korean War. He served eight years, in which he was awarded the Korean War Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Air Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Air Crew Member Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award and Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. During this time, he developed a love for communication radios. He was a licensed Amateur Radio Operator (WD4CEJ) and member of the VFW.
Bob moved to Hampton in 1975 where he worked as the Manager of Hampton Audio Electronics until they closed. He then went to work at The Van House and then later Charlton Mobility where he worked late into his 70’s.
Bob was a member of Pine Chapel Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and was also in charge of the A/V equipment for many years. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed his backyard pool. He will be most remembered by his unique and infectious laugh.
He was preceded in rest by his wife Bonnie, a daughter Deborah, and grandson Tyler, and sisters, Patty and Cheryl Millette. He is survived by his sons, Robert E. Fago Jr. (Edner Mae), Dale L. Fago (Melissa); daughters Vicki J. Barnett (David), Tammy L. Hughes (Denny) and grandchildren, Brent Soloman, Alex Fago, Kristal Levine (Mike), Stacy Slemp, Nicole Piso, Wayne Barnett, Shelby Hughes, Hunter Hughes, Corey Fago and Halle Fago and great grandchildren, Kayla Piso, and Brayden Piso.
Visitation will be held at Pine Chapel Baptist Church, 1544 W. Queen St. Hampton, VA on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 12:00PM to 1: 00PM immediately followed by a Celebration of Life.
